Friends get upset during movie night because the group orders food she cannot eat, as well as food she can, and it makes her feel left out: 'After eating awkwardly in a group, they both said they were going, and that was the last we spoke.'

  • One month ago I hosted a movie night for my 5 girl friends in my apartment. I consider all of them close friends since they are basically all the friends I have here and they also went to my wedding. I had been planning this for over a month and I was really excited to watch the movie for a second time with my friends for a girls night in. Before the movie a friend called me to ask if it was ok to bring some fruit to make a drink, I told her yes since most of us are ok with eating anything

  • and I thought it was a nice gesture from her part. The other friend I know for around two years, brought dessert, which was great, however she is a bit of a picky eater and because the drink we made had fruits touching and soda she pointed that she needed to sit away because she could not even be near it. This made my other friend feel a bit bad because she had put a lot of thought into making this, but we were ok with it in the end.
  • After the movie we start talking on what to order, we ask her first because we know it would be the hardest to choose and she chooses chicken, then another friend mentions she did not want chicken but wanted sushi. So we decided on order from two places. Then the friend who wanted chicken asked if the chicken was only for her, to which I reply No, we will all eat from both places (except the other friend who does not want the chicken). Then she started to say
  • we singled her out because she does not eat sushi and she would throw up if she does. We mention the other friend did not want chicken so we were ordering something that at least all wanted to eat, and that the check will be divided only from the place each ate, obviously we will nor charge for something you did not want/ate. However she continued to say it wasnt fair, and after some discussion deciding what type of chicken she went to another room, got on her phone
  • and did not speak another word to the rest of us, only whispering to her best friend who was also invited After eating awkwardly in a group they both said they were going, and that was the last we spoke. That was one month ago. I sent a short message to the group chat thanking everyone for coming, she read, never reacted or replied. I then sent a reel to the same groupchat, again no reply on her end. I did not think it was such a
  • big deal, but maybe I was wrong. AITA for not apologizing or for taking the stand I took and have something each of the people who wanted specifically in the order?

  • Remarkable-Train8231 Your friend is a nutcase. NTA
  • Familiar-Fox514 NTA. At all. You ordered food that everyone wanted, including her. She's just mad that others were enjoying things she doesn't like. Honestly, I'd keep the distance going in the friendship. Who has time to cater that much to one person?
  • fulltimetroll12 NTA, you made sure everyone had something to eat. She didn't have to eat sushi or pay for it, so I don't see how she was being singled out.
  • -Raveheart- I'm slightly confused as to which she is which in this scenario of 5 she's - using (fake) names might have helped to make it clearer for those of us who are struggling with reading comprehension If I got it right, one She - is a picky eater to the extent of not wanting to even sit near a drink where fruit is touching other fruit / soda - wanted chicken and then got upset
  • that everyone else didn't just want chicken, some even had the audacity (/jk) to want food that She (again) didn't like to the point of having a strong physical reaction to it - failed to regulate her emotions and instead snubbed everyone by isolating herself and another party attendee to go gossip, then left together - ignored the hostess's post-event messages. This girl/woman has some very serious issues she needs to attend to.
  • Do not pander to her whims any more than you already have - it would only validate her unreasonable behaviour.
  • Gracetheface513 Obviously NTA and your friend is insufferable
  • Friendly_Print7319 nta. u handled the food situation where no one is eating what they don't want to eat and pays what they ate, so i don't know why she is mad.
  • Ryuuji-Akiyama NTA. Your friend may have some unresolved issues, but I'm afraid their resolution is likely beyond your control.
